Travelers from many Asian countries may be able to book a flight directly to Busan's Gimhae International Airport. For those who cannot fly directly to Gimhae, flying to Busan will likely involve arrival at Incheon and bus transport to Gimpo Airport to board a domestic flight to Busan. Some travelers may find it more convenient to fly into Incheon and then travel to Busan by high-speed train (KTX) or by express bus.

Most flights to Korea are through Incheon International Airport (ICN), located about an hour from Central Seoul. From Incheon International Airport there are three ways to get to Busan:

• Plane
• KTX high-speed train
• Bus

Plane from Gimpo Airport to Gimhae Airport

If you have purchased a plane ticket to Gimhae Airport in Busan, you may have to transfer to Gimpo Airport, about a 30-minute bus ride from Incheon International Airport. The following two buses travel to Gimpo Airport from Incheon for a fare of 7,500 KRW. Tickets are available at Transportation Information Counters (near exits 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 13 on the 1st floor).

Train to Busan KTX Station

High-speed KTX trains are a fast and comfortable way to travel to Busan. Travel time is approximately 2-1/2 hours. A limited number of KTX trains run directly from Incheon Airport to Busan. Service from Seoul Station in Central Seoul to Busan is more frequent and may be more convenient.

KTX tickets can be purchased at the station. They can also be purchased online, but can only be purchased up to one month in advance. Note that the fare is relatively higher than taking an express bus, ranging from approximately 50,000 KRW ~ 85,000 KRW, depending on day of the week, time of day, type of ticket and discounts.

Limousine Bus to Seoul Station

Tickets are available at Transportation Information Counters (near exits 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 13 on 1st floor). With the bus ticket, go to 4A, 5B, 10B, 11B (bus stops for Seoul Station) on the 1st floor. The bus runs at an average interval of 30 minutes from 05:40 to 22:40 and takes about 60~80 minutes. The fare is 15,000 KRW ~ 16,000 KRW.

Subway to Seoul Station

The Airport Rail Express (AREX) line connects Incheon Airport to Seoul Station. All-stop trains run at an average interval of 12 minutes from 05:23 to 23:57 and take about 56 minutes. Fares range between approximately 4,000 ~ 15,000 KRW, depending on type of train and discounts. Please check the AREX website for fare information for All-stop and Express trains. Tickets can be purchased at Information Centers located in Incheon Airport.

Express Bus from Incheon Airport to Busan Dongbu Bus Terminal

Express buses run directly from Incheon Airport to Busan Dongbu Bus Terminal. Travel time is approximately 5-1/2 hours.

Fare is 41,800 KRW and tickets are available at Transportation Information Counters (near exits 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 13 on the 1st floor). The bus stop is located at Stop 10C outside the Passenger Terminal.
